It’s almost unbelievable – too much to take in. It’s also a sign of the fall of the judicial and civilised system of law in the West. It is no less dramatic or serious than that.
We don’t know yet if Derek Chauvin will appeal his conviction on various counts (including murder and manslaughter) but you get the feeling that if he did, he would find the same results. This was a political conviction. Mob justice. This man did not, and can not, receive a fair trial. Given that he is facing potentially decades in prison, he should probably not by tried at all. I loathe the notion of wrong-doers ‘getting away with it’, but our democratic, civilised systems are built upon the vital premise of the right to a fair trial, and the right to be considered innocent until proven guilty. Both of these fundamental facets of justice were thrown out the window in this case. It’s a very serious matter.
It gets even more serious when we consider just who was commenting on his presumed guilt prior to the delivery of the jury’s verdict. Commentators included the US President. This is also a very serious matter.
This case has been used for a very distinct and dangerous political purpose. Neo-communist groups like Black Lives Matter have built a violent revolution on the back of lies. They claim – without evidence of any kind – that black people are killed with impunity by police in the United States. They are killed because police are racist in the United States. All police apparently, no matter their skin colour. This is what they put forward as examples of their fabled “systemic racism”. This term, which nobody can explain with any clarity (because it’s rubbish), is how neo-communists intend to bring down Western civilisation. It’s succeeding.
Corrupt, stupid, lying politicians are jumping all over this to please the gullible who believe this to be about racial justice, but more importantly, to appease the neo-communist violent revolutionaries. These corrupt, stupid, lying politicians include the man currently sitting in the White House.
Biden, who once gave a eulogy at the funeral of a former recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan (imagine if Trump had done that!) is jumping all over this and selling himself as the saviour, the bringer of racial equality. He is a puppet of the neo-communists and nothing more.
But what is serious is this: the US President, other members of America’s government machine, and the media, may as well have outright declared Derek Chauvin guilty before and during his trial. In normal times, this a mistrial, but we are not in normal times. Our civilisation is falling before our eyes.
Forbes Magazine has covered this. Here is part of their report.
“I’m praying the verdict is the right verdict, which is, I think it’s overwhelming in my view,” the president said, adding: “I wouldn’t say that unless the jury was sequestered.”
The president also confirmed he spoke to Floyd’s family on Monday, saying he “can only imagine the pressure and anxiety they’re feeling … so I waited until the jury was sequestered and I called.”
George Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd, told NBC Today that he spoke to Biden on Monday, saying the president “was just letting us know that he was praying for us and hoping everything would come out to be OK.”
“He knows how it is to lose a family member,” Floyd said during the interview early Tuesday, adding: “He knows the process that we’re going through.”
The brother of the late George Floyd also touched upon the potential unrest that could follow the trial’s outcome, urging protesters to remain “peaceful.”
“Hopefully it will be the way the world wants to see it, because the video is facts and it’s proof of what happened,” Floyd said of the upcoming verdict. “I’m optimistic about everything.”
Jury sequestered or not, this is absolutely scandalous. It is a political game of the most despicable kind. Joe Biden is elated to expand the lie that American policing is fundamentally racist, and that this was a racist killing. He is throwing every police officer in America under the bus and justifying violent retribution for police killings.
I repeat, there is zero evidence that the death of George Floyd had anything whatsoever to do with race. Floyd was a convicted criminal, high on drugs, resisting arrest. That’s the truth of the case.
There is zero evidence that policing is “systemically racist” in America and the reason high numbers of black people are killed by police, or incarcerated, is because black people are involved in disproportionate levels of crime. Black America makes up 13% of the population yet commits 52% of homicides (usually of other black people). These facts are entirely ignored and a lie is put forward by the White House, a dark and dangerous lie that empowers violent neo-communists and threatens the very fabric of Western civilisation.
The media coverage of this case has been truly appalling. I covered some of it in this video.
Biden is not alone in this. To continue the Forbes report:
President Biden’s call came as both the prosecution and defense put forward their closing arguments and the trial went to jury. Another Democratic leader, Rep. Maxine Waters (Calif.), has come under fire for her comments about the case at a protest over the weekend (before jurors were sequestered), urging demonstrators to get “more active” and “more confrontational” if Chauvin isn’t found guilty. Chauvin’s defense attorney Eric Nelson filed a motion for mistrial, which the judge in the case, Peter Cahill, rejected but suggested could give the former officer’s team grounds for appeals.
The above is a member of America’s political elite all-but advocating violent retribution on the streets should a jury deliver a verdict disliked by violent neo-communist revolutionaries intent on bringing down the US.
That’s where are we are. Because it is built on a lie, it’s a dark and dangerous place.
